Where Theory Meets Craft
Transept is a postgraduate student-led group of multidisciplinary practicing artists and art enthusiasts within ITIA, the University of St Andrews and the wider local community.
At the start of each academic year, they determine an approach for the year, which often includes exhibitions and performances in response to a theme that they explore. Transept has collaborated with local churches and galleries, using their art to complement and enrich sacred and secular spaces. Transept artists have also shared their work at academic theological conferences, encouraging reciprocation between academic studies and artistic exploration. Through these projects rooted in ITIA and St Andrews, an international Transept community is flourishing.
Transept members are regularly featured on Transpositions, whether as artists sharing their work, inspiration and process, or others reflecting on the work and the process.
Transpositions also features reviews and some content of Transept exhibitions. Watch this page for current and past exhibition links. To see Transept-related articles and exhibition posts, follow the links below!
