Welcome to the first round of Tidbits, a post we hope to publish every other week that highlights various tidbits of news and notes from around the world and the web in the area of theology, imagination, and the arts. So without further ado:
Registration is still open for the Theology, Aesthetic, and Culture conference here at the University of St Andrews and the Institute for Theology, Imagination, and the Arts. Proposals for short papers are due 20 July, so don’t delay!
Another important call for papers has been put out by Ecumenica: Journal of Theatre and Performance, on any proposal related to Catholic faith and theatre or performance studies. If you don’t submit, definitely keep your eye out for this issue!
If you are looking for another great blog dabbling in transpositions between Christianity and culture, Christ and Pop Culture is a great place to visit. This post on the video game Red Dead Redemption is a good example of their work.
Make sure to take a look at preview of Makoto Fujimura’s Four Holy Gospels project being published by Crossway next year.
There are many exciting initiatives in theology and the arts around the academy, but Duke’s Initiative is one of the most exciting.
Speaking of Duke, you won’t want to miss New Creation, the blog of the student arts group at the Duke Divinity School.
Don’t forget to visit the website of our featured artist, Bruce Herman. Next Sunday we will have another featured artist.
